Program to Get Substance Abusers into Detox and Rehab
This program endeavors to get substance abusers off the street and into a successful detoxification and long-term rehabilitation program. This program is directed to a population over the age of 26. The Jerusalem Anti-Drug Association pays for the two counselors who are “out on the street” making headway in convincing potential rehabilitants to come in for detoxification. This program is affiliated with four detox centers around the country and the social worker that runs the program and the counselors are committed to cutting down the wait period from three weeks to one week so that addicts do not have time to back out of their decision.
Our Involvement
We partner with the Jerusalem Anti-Drug Association and issued a grant to help pay for the portion of the detoxification program that Bituach Leumi or the family does not/cannot cover. The ensuing year long rehabilitation center is paid for by national insurance. Beyond this we are paying for some incidentals of the recipients like food, toiletries and undergarments. Hands On Tzedakah would like to expand its support of this unique program and build up a fund for basic needs of the participants.
