Of Home, Family and Future

Nancy and Bob Schulman founded Of Home, Family and Future, Inc. in 2005. This 501 (c) 3 public charity based in New York, has two primary objectives: (i) grants for long-term affordable housing and support services to women and children affected by domestic violence (ii) grants to support a successful college experience for high school students currently living in residential treatment centers.

OHFF seeks to provide a chance for individuals to escape the cycle of poverty and/or violence that prevents them from joining society as productive members. The Schulmans help people who are facing circumstances that are hard to handle, but who are courageous in their efforts to make it on their own. Some of these people are lost in the cracks between programs. Others are being given the basics of help, but not the mentoring and social skills to create long-term success.

OHFF funds services to help highly-motivated working women move from dependency to self-reliance. These services include: affordable housing, childcare, financial, career and psychological counseling. The four year grant awarded to qualified high school students intends to create both the financial and social support necessary to successfully complete a college education.

Of note, is that the Schulmans made a commitment to bear all of the administrative, legal, accounting and fund raising expenses for a minimum of five years, assuring that 100% of donor contributions will be used to pay for the participants' services.

Our Involvement

Hands On Tzedakah agrees with the founders of Of Home, Family and Future that grants to deserving recipients will have a profound affect on the quality of the recipient’s lives. Educational grants, up to $12,000 per year, are used for books; computers, clothes, pocket money and other student expenses that will help the student feel more comfortable amongst his peers on the college campus.
